Jim Lamb 1991

I ran across a photograph of Jim Lamb, an actor and dancer who I photographed after a performance of Camille performed at Charles Ludlum’s Ridiculous Theatre Company. He danced at The Men’s Room after hours.

Nice pic of Jim. I was an understudy opposite him in a play called “Soul Survivor” back in 1989 (Jack Wrangler was out other actor). I went on for a few weeks that summer. I really enjoyed Jim – he was sweet, tormented, and working hard to be seen as more than a great body. It was sad to hear about his early death, but he will always be remembered as a beauty.

Yes I enjoyed working with Jim. He was so cool as a person as well as an actor. Well, it was a difficult time for all of us undoubtedly.

So happy to see that pic. He was a buddy of mine and such a sweetheart. You gotta love the internet. Jim pops into my mind. I do a google search. And there he is. If only he were still here in the flesh. :(

It’s been some time since I had the pleasure of working with Jim. I have some Polaroids that I need to show to the world eventually.

Hi. These comments are from a while ago but I thought I’d try. I’m Jim’s niece. He passed away before I was born. I’ve heard a lot of stories about his childhood and a bit about his last years, but there are a lot of gaps that I’d like to fill. If any of you would be willing to reach out to me or put me in contact with someone who could tell me more about Jim I would really appreciate it and I would love to hear your stories.

Hi. I already posted this, but it somehow got deleted. I know these comments are from a while ago and this is kind of a long shot but I thought I’d try. I’m Jim’s niece. He passed away a couple of years before I was born. I’ve heard a lot of stories about him over the years mostly about his childhood and high school years and just a few about his time in New York and the last few years. There are a lot of gaps that I wish I could fill in. I was wondering if any of you would be willing to contact me and share your stories about Jim or put me in contact with someone else who could, I would really appreciate it.

It was wonderful to come across this photo of Jim. I knew him as a kid growing up in Connecticut. We did theater productions together (I first saw him onstage playing Curly in “Oklahoma”. Jim was 12 years old) and sometimes socialized. He was a magical person, inventive, talented, handsome, funny.

We lost touch in our college years and it was only after many long years that I found out he had died at the age of 29. I think of him occasionally as I think of so many who died in those dark years. This is a beautiful portrait of Jim.

It was a sad period in New York. Jim was performing with the ridiculous theatre company at the time and was introduced by one of the cast members. We worked on some Polaroids preliminarily then did film. He was a little shy in front of the camera actually. I wish that I would have been able to get to know him better. Yes he was very young and a great loss to Theatre in New York.

Hello Schuyler. It was wonderful to have had photographed Jim in my studio. I guess I could tell you more about him but was not able to get to know him in nothing more than a professional level as a photographer. There were several people that I had photographed that year that passed away shortly after. If only there were drugs then. It was a very dark time in New York.
