Andy Warhol, Recycling Male Nudes on Ebay, Travis, Second Life, and Cycling Le Tour de France

‘Sue Brown at Andy Warhol’s Grave’ was included in the Friends in Deed Benefit at Sotheby’s in 1993. As a result the sale has been included in artnet.com’s database. I’ve offer it in auction on Ebay occasionally. I am recycling my male nudes auctions from years past as well.

Daniel Lechner recently visited the studio. He works at the gallery Cheim & Read here in New York and gave me a copy of ‘Andy Warhol: Eros and Mortality: The Late Male Nudes’ that I thought was very interesting. Warhol hired massage therapists who he photographed in very impromptu lighting.

Our new contributor Regina Cherry invited me to see the Travis concert at The Fillmore at Irving Plaza. He and his wife happen to be her upstairs neighbor so the tickets were gratis. The after party at Beauty Bar was very cool. We left early to get some pizza so missed the arrival of the band later that night.

Le Tour de France is over.  I spent most of my mornings watching le tour live on Sputnik 2 TV from Denmark and listening to the audio on eurosport yahoo.

Onward to another subject that has been current on my agenda.    It seems that Second Life has abolished all of the casinos recently. I miss playing poker. I guess the Feds were cracking down on them so they were forced to shut down. It’s too bad we lost the game. Speaking of the Game, Epileptic Gaming Stickam is one of my favorite video casts. It comes on nightly at 7PM EDT. I hardly ever put on network TV now that we have Joost. It’s been years since I have watched the Today Show or Good Morning America. I wonder how much longer the network morning shows will last. Stay tuned.

Silence got deeper after
your departure
even when you had said
nothing
space replete with
the pressure of your mind
presence of your being –
intermittent muffled clicks
of your keyboard –
now void

trembling falling
tulip petals shedding
revealing erect nakedness
skin snowflakes covering
the ground; if I gathered
reassembled sufficient flecks
of your molting skin
I could possibly
reconstruct
a semblance of you

I’m converting my old website to web 2.0 so that it is easier to update. Gallery2 had a Theme called Carbon developed by Mustafa Incel that is just what I’ve been looking for. It has quite an elaborate array of bells and whistles that I have yet to fully explore. The galleries are just now being populated.

At twenty hours
the wispy spine
pink in the sky
throwing last rose highlights
onto sap-green pine tips
only the tallest
largest fish whale flying
ancestral reminder dissolving
moving east
tail end thrashing
cross vast milky way’s path

lone dragon flies in locked
tandem working next year’s
alchemy
a sky scattered tonight
skeletons fossilized translucent
heaven as oracle

Zucchini and Tomato Salad

Filed under: Recipes — Artflux at 1:53 pm on Saturday, July 14, 2007

Ingrediants:

2 zucchini, about 3/4 pound
Salt
2 red, ripe tomatoes, cut into quarter-inch-thick slices
Freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup finely chopped red onion
8 flat anchovy fillets
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1/4 cup finely chopped parsley
6 tablespoons olive oil

1. Trim the ends of the zucchini and cut them slightly on the bias into quarter-inch-thick slices. Drop the slices into boiling salted water and let simmer 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. The zucchini must retain a certain resilience.
2. Arrange the zucchini and tomato slices in alternate patterns in a round serving dish. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Sprinkle with the chopped onion. Arrange the anchovy fillets on top. Sprinkle with the vinegar, parsley, and oil and serve.

Yield: Four servings.
