Chinese Pak Choi

Filed under: Recipes — Artflux at 6:32 pm on Thursday, December 21, 2006

A favorite recipe for pak choi that I get in Chinatown.

Ingredients

2 heads of pak choi
2 tbsp olive oil
½ glass red wine
1 tsp red wine vinegar
2 green onions chopped
1 red pepper sliced
1 wedge of lemon
handful or coriander
1 tsp honey

Braise the pak choi in 1 tbsp olive oil, wine and vinegar for 6-8 minutes turning occasionally. Add green onions.

In another pan heat olive oil and sauté the pepper slices for 3-4 minutes. Add the lemon wedges, coriander and honey.

Pour the sauce over the pak choi and serve over rice.

Now that Christmas is nearing and my amazon.com wish list has been updated it’s time for the festivities to begin. I am hosting dinner Saturday night at Artflux. And we will be decorating the tree. Everyone is invited so if your coming let me know. RSVP at 212 226-0643.

The wine has been flowing at various parties that I have been attending around town and it’s nearly time to say bye to 2006. Food has been plentiful making me feel a little rounder in the middle. I’ll have to work it off next year!
This year has been great and hopefully the arts and photography that we have been showing here on the blog and at the studio are subjects that everyone has enjoyed.

There are some memorable movies that I have taken in this year. My favorite was La Luna that I finally was able to locate at long last starring Jill Clayburgh. The VHS tape is nearly impossible to find. Thanks to the whoever made it available on Bittorrent.

La Mama has continued to present great theatrical events providing entertainment extraordinaries. And it was great to see Dreamgirls relived. I was fortunate enough to have worked with director Tom Eyen how founded Theater of the Eye at La Mama in the 70’s.

Cooking has been my passion. Thanks to the CSA the vegetables are plentiful and good for the mind and body. The yoga classes at New York Sports Club are spectacular with Silvia who is my favorite yoga instructor. I’ve cycled about 2784 miles this year. Not as many miles as 2005 however. Travel on my bike is my main mode of transportation around town for pleasure as well as for function.

If it weren’t for the high cost of medicine and health care I would have found more cash flow to travel to the outdoors. Camping on the roof deck or on my friends terrace on the 18th floor of a high rise apartment building just doesn’t compare to the wilderness.

So all the best for a Happy Holiday and Prosperous 2007.

For all you last minuet shoppers check out the current auctions that I have on EBAY.

I took some video on on a bumpy early morning ride down to Battery Park then uptown to Central Park. The video quality was much to be desired. Instead of boring you with that I have created a composite assemblage of some of the stills.
